B&B in Marnes
Jean Michel and Denise found and fell in love with a small stone finca in need of restoration in 2010, and since that day have been pouring their enthusiasm and love into the delightful place it's becoming.Restauration here meant lifting the whole roof top and replacing the main beam across the whole of the house, knocking out walls and stairways that were no longer safe , re- grouting the whole facade in amongst many other tasks!
None of these too great for Jean Michel , originally from Southern France, a perfectionist by nature with a great ability to work with wood , hence creating the whole bedroom and bathroom floor of what will be their own private upstairs quarters of natural pine, including part of the staircase .The house it's self will eventually comprise of three guest rooms and bathroom , large kitchen area and a small naya containing the original bread oven , already functioning , producing succulent dishes created by Jean Michel using herbs and ecological produce from their own vegatable garden.
Protected from wildlife ( and their two beautiful black dogs ) by a simple yet delightfully handmade mesh fencing lays the above mentioned vegatable plot , growing lettuces and other salad greens all year round , garlics, onions , herbs and strawberries and many more fresh produce. Situated nearby stands the ancient well , restored over the years by many generations supplying water to both house and garden.Being animal lovers, Denise and Jean Michel have not only their dogs to enjoy but also a small family of free-range chickens , so tame they can be picked up and cuddled! No doubt that fresh eggs and a handpicked bunch of wild asparagus is enough to make anyone's mouth water!!
Anybody who enjoys nature and peace and quiet will find Marnes a joy , situated between Benissa and the Bernia mountain range it's nearest village being Pinos and stretching out to the sea , the town of Calpe.Denise and Jean Michel hope to be open to the public in the next year and there will be regular updates on their progress !!
